Chalkpit Cassette Club at The Great Escape 2025 – A Weekend of Future Icons

There’s something truly magical about The Great Escape. It’s the kind of festival where the next generation of headliners is still playing to packed-out pubs and sea-battered piers, and where you can feel the pulse of what’s next in music. This year, Chalkpit Cassette Club was thrilled to be back in Brighton, soaking in the buzz and discovering some of the most exciting new talent from the UK and beyond.

From hyped TikTok favourites to genre-defying ensembles, we caught a stunning array of performances. Here are a few artists that blew us away:

Blood Wizard
A project with real bite, Blood Wizard impressed with their poetic lyricism, cinematic soundscapes, and bold narrative themes. Their blend of off-kilter indie and sharp-witted social commentary created a set that was equal parts haunting and heartfelt. Think storytelling on a cosmic scale—this is artful indie done right.

Women/Man/Chainsaw
Part of the So Young showcase at Charles Street Tap, this trio delivered one of the most emotionally resonant sets of the weekend. With a name as unforgettable as their performance, Women/Man/Chainsaw layered post-punk grit with sweeping strings and raw intensity. The use of violin brought a refreshing, almost theatrical dynamic to their sound—mesmerising from start to finish.

FEET
It felt like the whole festival had descended on Horatio's for FEET’s Submarine Cat showcase—and for good reason. With an infectious energy and a catalogue of jangly, left-field indie bangers, FEET proved exactly why they’re fast becoming one of the UK's most talked-about bands. If you weren’t already onboard, now’s the time.

Keo
TikTok buzz is one thing, but Keo’s live set proved the hype is more than justified. With a huge, polished indie rock sound, they delivered anthems that felt ready-made for festival fields and arena stages. The songwriting, the presence, the hooks—it all points to a band on a rocket trajectory. One to watch? More like one to bet on.

Crooks Inc.
Rounding out our highlights was Crooks Inc., a London-based jazz outfit that brought serious groove and finesse. Their set blended soul, jazz, and funk with effortless cool. Vocals soared, arrangements shimmered, and the whole thing felt like a masterclass in musical chemistry. A total vibe.

From beachside bangers to backroom brilliance, this year’s Great Escape felt like a real snapshot of the future—and Chalkpit Cassette Club was proud to be right there in the thick of it. We left inspired, ears ringing, and with a growing list of artists we can’t wait to support through cassette releases, live shows, and beyond.
